About the project
Discovery Care Group operates four Care Quality Commission (CQC)-registered care homes, delivering services including nursing care, dementia support and care for individuals with learning disabilities.
With a strong focus on resident safety, dignity and compliance, the organisation identified a need to upgrade its existing security systems to better support staff and streamline incident response.
Working alongside Verkada and integration partner Cirtec, Discovery Care Group implemented a unified, cloud-based security solution across all locations.
The challenge
The existing CCTV system relied on outdated, largely manual processes that slowed investigations and limited visibility.
Staff were required to review footage in real time, meaning even short clips could take hours to locate. Accessing footage also required being physically onsite due to on-prem NVRs, delaying response times.
The system lacked audio capture, reducing context during incident reviews. Additionally, their legacy security provider did not support role-based access controls. This made it difficult to ensure only authorised staff had access to sensitive security materials and creating challenges in maintaining consistent GDPR compliance across sites.

Deployment and rollout
Discovery Care Group partnered with Verkada-certified integrator Cirtec to deliver the solution.
Following a successful trial of Verkada’s platform, Cirtec supported the full deployment across all four care homes. This included advising on camera placement, refining system design and ensuring the right level of coverage in key areas while maintaining resident privacy.
The rollout was carefully managed to minimise disruption, with installation planned around the operational needs of each site. Cirtec also supported funding arrangements and provided guidance throughout procurement and implementation.
The final solution included cloud-managed cameras, intercom systems and digital visitor management, all accessible through a centralised platform.
The results
Faster investigations
Investigation times have reduced dramatically. Incidents that previously took up to eight hours to review can now be resolved in 30 minutes or less.
